Halloween 2012

Halloween night finally arrived! Denis dressed as a ninja, Dima was the same sweet Frog he was earlier that week, and Jon and I sported new pirate costumes. Aaaarrr!

Camping @ Lake Biwa

Time to play catch-up! I'm finally getting around to posting a few pictures from our camping trip during fall break. We went to Lake Biwa with some friends and had a good - albeit chilly! - time. It's hard to believe that this was our first camping trip in Japan. We're determined to get out and do this more often.

School Conferences

Denis had his parent conference at school just before fall break. Here he is talking about the IB Learner Profile and how he is a balanced person, a risk-taker, etc. I love it! Jon and I really enjoyed hearing about all the things he's been doing this year in KB, especially all the activities/strategies related to reading and writing. The world of literacy is just opening up for Denis, and it's exciting to watch it all happen. Keep up all the good work, Denis!

Gettin' Our Spook On!

We've been gearing up for Halloween around here. One of our favorite pre-Halloween activities has turned out to be a newly discovered game from LEGO. It's a perfect mixture of LEGO, strategy game (4-in-a-row), and creepy monsters. It's helping us get our spook on! The only problem is, I keep losing to a 5-yr-old...

Dima's pre-school class went trick-or-treating along the River Mall yesterday. I was able to join them for a few minutes, and was so glad I did. He was too cute hopping along in his frog costume!

Anyone recognize this costume from a few years ago...? Look who wore it back in 2009!

What a lucky girl I've been to have two handsome Frog Princes in my life! 

The big Halloween party and trick-or-treating parade will be tomorrow in The Backyard with lots of other CA staff kids - we can't wait!

Tent? Check! Sleeping Bag? Yep!

Gearing up for our camping trip next week - airing out the old seeping bags, and trying out the new tent.  Dima's ready to go!

Walk-a-Thon near Kobe Tower

Our school took part in a walk-a-thon today down near the harbor.  It was a gorgeous day to be out and about.  The red of the Kobe Tower looked fabulous against the bright blue sky.
